Following the success of titles such as Dr Kawashima's Brain Training for the Nintendo DS lite, it doesn't take too much brain power to work out that a game of this type would be very popular on the iPod and ride off the back of Dr. Kawashimas success. So those particularly clever people at Gameloft decided that they would give a Brain Trainer a go and have done rather well.

The very first thing that struck me was the avatar of Dr. Hurley. It seemed a shame that such an attractive, intelligent woman was actually dumb! Her moving mouth and speech bubbles made me immediately reach for my headphones although once plugged in I was disappointed to discover that the avatar didn't actually speak. It isn't really a big deal although the way she appears on screen you just expect that she will talk. Surely this wouldn't have been too difficult for a company like Gameloft?

A few screens in and I was presented with the option to choose my personal coach, Dr. Hurley the Swedish looking blonde or Prof. Stevens who looks like a cross between Ross from Friends and Noel Gallagher. I stuck with the blonde!

First time through the game I found the questions ridiculously easy and they reminded me of the sort of IQ test you might get in kindergarten and at the end of a fairly short test, Dr. Hurley informed me that I was using just 8% of my Brain. Quite how accurate this assumption is after such a short and un-challenging test is anyone's guess although this was apparently quite good.

This preliminary test would appear to gauge how quickly you should move onto other stages within the game and a nice feature was that five new games were unlocked.

After another round of puzzles which took slightly longer this time I was informed that I was now using 11% of my brain and had reached the level of 'Wannabe Brain Master'.

Since I had also now completed two separate tests Dr. Hurley provided me with some analysis on the areas of my mental abilities which needed some sharpening.

Would I buy this? Yes, I would since I like puzzles and this would be a great time-waster on long journeys which is typically when I use my games for iPod. Is it for everyone? No. I think the best way to decide on a purchase of this game is that if the idea of a Brain Trainer for iPod appeals to you then you will be very pleasantly surprised.
