Not being a particularly keen golfer Mini Golf would not been in my own personal top-ten games for the iPod although my initial reaction was very pleasant. The sound of Hawaiian style guitars backing the main menu screen was immediately relaxing (just like a good game of golf should be) and the graphics impressive.
There are 3 main options of play, Single Player, Pass n Play and Practice hole.
The first accessible course of Tommy Totems Tiki Putt Putt is set to the backdrop of volcanoes, totem poles and palm trees along with the sound of birds, bongos and rushing water. Perhaps it was the last sonic addition that stimulated a visit to the bathroom early on as I happily cruised to 3 under par.
The aerial view of the course works well and the game is indeed very playable although at times the golfer icon obstructed the view of the hole.
My relaxing game of golf was soon to come to an end however as my below par score shot to 3 over on the seventh hole.
Soon 3 over became 7 and despite 2 holes in one I somehow managed to finish the 18 holes 15 over par... just like in real life I find golf can spoil a good walk.
The game requires the player to finish on par or below to move onto the next course and so presents a suitable reward for the challenge although needless to say after several attempts my golf had improved a great deal and so I am unable to review the game on from here! Anyone know Tiger Woods?
